The time is short until the Second Coming of Jesus Christ! We ALL need to help Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit by planting seeds to save as many souls as possible! If only 100 members passed out 50 Bible Study request cards a week, we can distribute 5,000 Bible study request cards EACH WEEK! If ALL members of our Salem Central church would pass out the cards six days a week; we could pass out a Bible Study request card to EVERY home and apartment in the Salem/Keizer metro area in about TWO WEEKS! We would then be able to FILL ALL our Salem/Keizer churches to capacity and would need to plant MORE CHURCHES AND HAVE MORNING AND EVENING SERMONS! It takes under an hour to pass out 50 cards!
An added benefit of passing out these cards on your daily walks on the door step of each house you pass, is that you will be in better shape and you will lose weight! I lost about 30 lbs. and two pants sizes this summer! I was up to walking about an hour and a half most days.
All of our members will need to be trained to help give Bible Studies to all the people wanting to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior! Pastor Tim Holven told me about applying to become a Literature Evangelist a short time ago. You must be a member in good standing of the SDA church to apply, have two references in the church, and get approved because you are representing the Seventh Day Adventist Church. If approved, you are trained, then you get to purchase Christian books and literature at wholesale and distribute them to your friends, family, and people you meet. You set the prices - retail, or giving them away. Any net income after expenses is yours to use as you please, such as donating to the church, buying more books and literature to distribute, supplies; or to supplement your income. You set your own hours - part time or full time. You are an independent contractor if you are approved. I had 3 apparent "mini" strokes from Sept. 24th - 28th, but I'm still able to walk! I'm still a little unsteady on my feet though. My Dr. told me that I should use a walker (for safety); but I don't want to give up on life if I don't have to! I've had a few close calls, but haven't fallen so far. I was told by my Internist that I have a VERY HIGH chance of having a BAD stroke in the future because of the narrowing of the blood vessels and arteries in my brain (probably throughout my body the Dr. said); yet I plan on passing out the Bible Study request cards and other Christian literature as long as I am able! Because of my faith, my blood pressure while I was in the hospital about the probable strokes was I think 127/80. I was prescribed medicine for relaxation, but I only asked for ONE pill to help relax my back muscles (sore from laying on the MRI and MRA table for an hour). As I was discharged, I asked my nurse if I could restart walking an hour a day, and she laughed at me - saying to wait until I'd seen my Primary dr. or the Neurologist!
I don't understand why I have narrowing of my arteries and blood vessels in my brain, etc. because I had been on a "low chloresterol" diet of primarily fish, chicken or turkey (rewarding myself occaisionaly with beef) for about 20 years. I had been on medicines to lower my chloresterol for probably 10 or 15 years. I had seen my Dr. regularly for physicals and testing of my chloresterol. Modern medicine had aparently failed me.
Geeta taught me about a "Lower" low chloresterol diet - a vegetarian diet, healthier food and supplements to take to help with my health concerns. She teaches healthy living and cooking at our church (among other things). Geeta went to Medical school in India and has had classes in nutrition and healthy living in the US. Pastor Tim helped me go shopping for these things. I am a diabetic (type 2) and the food supplements Geeta told me about have already helped lower my blood sugars in only about one week! Geeta told me to talk to my Primary Dr. about my taking these supplements and he was fine with them - he said that we would need to keep an eye on things (possibley adjusting the medicines). He liked it that I was going to a vegetarian diet to help with my chloresterol. He told me of a man that ate only beef and raised prize beef that was putting on a banquet at Salishan and another man went to the chef and had him prepare everything on the menu for the banquet all vegetarian. The man was praising how good the "beef" meal was. His friend then told him the joke of his not having ANY BEEF in his meal. This man couldn't tell the difference of going to all vegetarian food instead of the beef!
My prayer request is that we all join in and help the Lord and the Holy Spirit to plant seeds as long as we are able! I also ask for a prayer that I regain my balance so that I can go back to walking an hour and a half most days so I can do more to help plant seeds. I also ask for a prayer that the Drs. release me to drive again. Pastor Tim Holven and some Elders from our church performed the anointing healing prayer out of the Bible for me shortly after I was released from the hospital. I can already stand on one leg at a time, and I couldn't do that in the hospital without falling over - the physical therapist caught me! I also ask for a prayer that my wife Debby's Multiple Sclerosis' complications improve and that we can get her moved into a better nursing home. Debby's goal is to come home (with the help of a care giver).
